Q&A Service

If you have occasional questions for me, I offer a Q&A Service by subscription only.

In order to use this service, you need to sign-up in advance. Only certain types of questions and projects are suitable, and I have a limit on the number of subscribers at any one time. Questions you ask this way should generally be answerable with one hour of my time or less. No fees are required in advance, although if you don't use the service within a month after you sign-up, your subscription will be canceled.

After you are signed-up, you can e-mail a question to me. In your e-mail, you should include a limit of how much time I should spend answering your question, and how quickly you would like a response. My rate is higher for quick or immediate responses (the details will be spelled out in your quote). I try to answer your questions within 5 working days. If I can't do that for a particular question, or if I don't feel qualified to answer a question, I will let you know as soon as I can, and there will be no charge in those cases.

I will spend up to the amount of time you specify answering the question, and will try to scope my work accordingly. When the time limit you've specified is up, my work will stop. If I finish before the alloted time, you will only be billed for the time I spend, in one-tenth hour increments.

If you anticipate having frequent or urgent questions, I encourage you to sign-up for my retainer-based service instead. If you are not using the retainer program, there are times when my schedule fills up and I will not be able to answer Q&A-type questions until it opens up again.

After you receive the answer, payment is due within 3 business days. I prefer PayPal for this program, although direct debit, wire transfer or ACH may also be acceptable, depending on where you're located. I have a strict policy that any account with a late payment will be canceled. To avoid payment issues, you are welcome to pre-pay a certain number of hours in advance (no refunds are available for unused prepaid hours).

My fee is payable whether or not you find my answer complete or adequate. The fee covers my time, not the answer. Although incomplete answers are often the result of not having enough time, if you find an answer insufficient, please let me know.
